Class 1 Truck Training
Learning Pathway: Class 1
Effective April 1, 2025, the Class 1 Learning Pathway will replace the Class 1 Mandatory Entry Level Training (MELT) program. The new pathway offers a flexible, apprentice-style approach to support new drivers in their ongoing career development.
Class 1 - Core Level - will result in a road test for a Provincial, Class 1 license
Includes:
In-Cab (behind the wheel) 67 hours
Airbrakes:
Classroom 6.5 hours
In-Yard (around the vehicle) 1.5 hours
Total hours : 75 hours
Class 1 - Competency Building Level - will result in a non-restricted Class 1 license (no road test needed)
Includes:
In-Cab (behind the wheel) 18 hours

Intermediate Program (1 – 2 weeks) – $1,820
- 13 hours of in-truck training
Refresher (hourly course) – $140/hour
